About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Aircraft Avionics Technician to join their dedicated maintenance team in Soweto . This role is essential for the maintenance, repair, and installation of complex avionics systems on a diverse range of aircraft. You will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of navigation, communication, flight control, and other electronic systems. This position demands a deep understanding of electronic principles, meticulous diagnostic skills, and a strong commitment to safety and quality in aviation maintenance.
As a senior member of the team, you will also provide technical guidance to junior technicians and contribute to troubleshooting challenging issues, ensuring the fleet remains airworthy and technologically advanced.
- Perform installation, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of aircraft avionics systems.
- Diagnose and rectify faults in navigation, communication, autopilot, and other electronic systems.
- Interpret technical manuals, schematics , and wiring diagrams to guide maintenance activities.
- Ensure all work performed complies with South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) regulations and company standards.
- Utilize specialized test equipment and tools for precise calibration and performance verification.
- Provide mentorship and technical support to junior avionics technicians, fostering team development.
- Recognized trade qualification in Avionics or Electronics, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 6 years of proven experience in aircraft avionics maintenance.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing complex avionics systems across various aircraft platforms.
- Experience with avionics test equipment and diagnostic software.
- Strong understanding of aviation safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, working effectively in Soweto .
