About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Automotive Powertrain Engineer to join their advanced engineering division in Soweto . This position requires a dedicated professional focused on the design, development, and optimization of vehicle powertrain systems, including engines, transmissions, and hybrid/electric powertrains. You will be instrumental in driving innovation in efficiency, performance, and emissions reduction for future vehicle platforms. Working within a state-of-the-art facility, you will collaborate with a talented team of engineers to push the boundaries of automotive propulsion technology.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop powertrain components and systems, ensuring performance, efficiency, and durability targets are met.
- Conduct simulations and analysis (e.g., CFD, FEA) to optimize powertrain designs and validate performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including chassis, electrical, and software engineers, to ensure seamless system integration.
- Oversee powertrain testing and validation, analyzing results and implementing necessary design modifications.
- Stay current with emerging powertrain technologies, including electrification and alternative fuels, and assess their applicability.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and documentation for powertrain development projects.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Significant experience (5+ years) in automotive powertrain design and development.
- Proficiency with powertrain simulation software (e.g., GT-SUITE, Amesim, MATLAB/Simulink).
- Strong understanding of internal combustion engines, transmissions, and/or electric vehicle powertrains.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to a high-performance engineering culture.
