About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead critical aspects of their construction projects in the Soweto area. This role is pivotal in ensuring the stability and safety of foundational structures by providing expert analysis and design solutions. You will oversee site investigations, interpret soil and rock mechanics data, and develop robust geotechnical designs for a variety of infrastructure and building projects.
This is an on-site position requiring strong field and office-based skills within a reputable construction firm.
- Plan and manage site investigations, including soil borings, CPTs, and geophysical surveys.
- Analyze geotechnical data and perform complex calculations for foundation design, slope stability, and earth retention systems.
- Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, foundation recommendations, and design drawings.
- Oversee the implementation of geotechnical designs during construction, providing site support and quality control.
- Collaborate with structural engineers, architects, and construction teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Review contractor submittals and respond to field queries related to geotechnical aspects of the project.
- BSc or higher in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on construction projects.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software for analysis and design (e.g., PLAXIS, Geo Studio).
- Experience with site investigations, laboratory testing, and field supervision.
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
- Excellent report writing, communication, and project management skills.
