Chemical Engineer - R&D

Our client is seeking an innovative Chemical Engineer to join their Research & Development department in Soweto . This hybrid role will focus on exploring new chemical technologies, developing novel processes, and contributing to the company's intellectual property portfolio. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers, transforming laboratory discoveries into viable industrial applications. This is an exciting opportunity for a curious and technically adept engineer looking to push the boundaries of chemical science in both lab settings and through remote analysis and documentation.

• Conduct research and development activities for new chemical products and processes.
• Design and execute experiments at laboratory and pilot scales.
• Analyze and interpret experimental data, drawing conclusions and recommending next steps.
• Develop process flow diagrams, mass balances, and energy balances.
• Collaborate with patent attorneys to document new inventions.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and research proposals.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering .
• 2-5 years of experience in R&D or process development.
• Strong understanding of chemical principles, reaction engineering, and separation processes.
• Experience with laboratory equipment and analytical techniques.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid capacity, involving both lab work and remote duties in Soweto .
• Excellent critical thinking and scientific writing skills.
