Urban Planning Civil Engineer

Our client is seeking a forward-thinking Urban Planning Civil Engineer to join their team based in Soweto . This role bridges the gap between urban planning principles and practical civil engineering execution, focusing on the sustainable development and infrastructure needs of growing communities. You will be instrumental in planning land use, designing essential services like water, sanitation, and roads, and ensuring that development aligns with municipal spatial plans.

The successful candidate will have a passion for community development and a strong understanding of integrated urban infrastructure planning within the Gauteng region.

• Contribute to the development of spatial plans and land use management strategies.
• Design and plan essential urban infrastructure, including water reticulation, sewerage systems, and stormwater drainage.
• Assess the infrastructure requirements for new developments and redevelopment projects.
• Ensure designs and plans comply with municipal planning policies and engineering standards.
• Collaborate with town planners, architects, and community stakeholders.
• Prepare reports and presentations on urban infrastructure proposals.

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering, with additional studies or experience in Urban Planning preferred.
• Professional registration with ECSA is an advantage.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on urban infrastructure or planning.
• Understanding of urban planning principles and development control processes.
• Proficiency in CAD software and basic GIS knowledge.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with an ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
