Technical Sales Engineer - Renewable Energy

Our client is a prominent provider of renewable energy solutions, dedicated to accelerating the adoption of clean energy technologies. We are seeking a proactive and technically adept Technical Sales Engineer to join our team in Soweto, Gauteng . In this role, you will bridge the gap between our technical capabilities and client needs, providing expert consultation on solar PV, battery storage, and other renewable energy systems.

You will be responsible for identifying potential opportunities, conducting technical site assessments, developing proposals, and supporting the sales process from initial contact through to project handover. The ideal candidate possesses a strong engineering background, excellent communication skills, and a passion for renewable energy. This position requires a hybrid approach, involving client site visits and sales meetings in and around Soweto, Gauteng , alongside office-based technical analysis and proposal development.

• Engage with prospective clients to understand their energy needs and identify opportunities for renewable energy solutions.
• Conduct technical site assessments, including evaluating solar resource potential, site suitability, and existing electrical infrastructure.
• Design preliminary system configurations for solar PV and battery storage solutions tailored to client requirements.
• Prepare detailed technical proposals, including system designs, performance estimates, and cost breakdowns.
• Provide technical expertise and product information to clients, addressing queries and concerns.
• Collaborate with the sales team to develop effective sales strategies and presentations.
• Support the project management team during the initial phases of project execution.
• Stay updated on the latest renewable energy technologies, market trends, and regulatory frameworks.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders.
• Achieve or exceed assigned sales targets and key performance indicators.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in technical sales, engineering design, or project implementation within the renewable energy sector (solar PV, energy storage preferred).
• Strong understanding of solar PV technology, components, and system design principles.
• Experience with energy storage systems is a significant advantage.
• Proficiency in using CAD or solar design software (e.g., PVsyst, AutoCAD).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to build rapport with clients and manage the sales cycle.
• Must be willing to travel for site assessments and client meetings in and around Soweto, Gauteng .
• A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are essential.
• Knowledge of South African energy policies and incentive programs is beneficial.
