Industrial Engineer - Process Automation & Control

A forward-thinking manufacturing company in Soweto is seeking an Industrial Engineer specializing in process automation and control systems. This role is crucial for modernizing our client's operations within Gauteng by integrating advanced automation technologies to improve efficiency, consistency, and safety. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of automation principles, control systems (PLC, SCADA), robotics, and data acquisition. You will be responsible for analyzing existing processes, identifying automation opportunities, designing automated solutions, and overseeing their implementation and integration.

• Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for automation.
• Design, develop, and implement automated control systems, including PLC programming and HMI development.
• Specify and integrate robotic systems and other automated equipment.
• Develop and implement data acquisition systems for real-time process monitoring and control.
• Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to ensure seamless integration of automated systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to automated processes and control systems.
• Develop and maintain documentation for automated systems, including P&IDs, logic diagrams, and operating manuals.
• Lead or participate in projects related to automation upgrades and new system installations.
• Train maintenance and operations personnel on the operation and upkeep of automated systems.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by leveraging automation to enhance productivity and quality.

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial engineering with a specialization in process automation and control.
• Proven experience with PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and HMI/SCADA systems.
• Knowledge of robotics, industrial networking, and sensor technologies.
• Experience with process simulation and modeling is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to automated systems.
• Excellent understanding of manufacturing processes and workflow optimization.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
• Must be legally eligible to work in South Africa.
