Senior Project Engineer; Mining Processing

A leading international mining and metals company is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to oversee the execution of capital projects within their processing facilities in Soweto, Gauteng . This role is instrumental in managing projects from inception through to commissioning, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required technical standards. The successful candidate will possess strong project management skills, a deep understanding of mining processing operations, and expertise in managing multidisciplinary project teams.

• Lead the planning, execution, and closeout of capital projects in mining processing plants.
• Develop project scope, objectives, detailed project plans, and budgets.
• Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables effectively.
• Coordinate and manage multidisciplinary engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, civil, process).
• Oversee contractors and suppliers, ensuring quality of work and adherence to contract terms.
• Implement robust health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) management systems.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Ensure effective communication with all project stakeholders, including site operations, management, and external parties.
• Manage project documentation, including design reviews, progress reports, and final handover documentation.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings within project execution.

• BEng or BSc in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Metallurgical Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng) is essential.
• A minimum of 8-12 years of experience in project engineering and management, with a significant focus on mining processing or heavy industrial projects.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering complex capital projects on time and within budget.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools (e.g., PMI, Prince2, MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Experience with HSEQ management systems and implementation in project environments.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• Familiarity with mining processing equipment and technologies.
