Mechanical Design Engineer - HVAC Systems

• Design and develop HVAC systems for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings.
• Prepare detailed HVAC system designs, including schematics, layouts, and equipment specifications.
• Perform load calculations, airflow analysis, and energy efficiency assessments.
• Select appropriate HVAC equipment (e.g., chillers, boilers, air handling units, pumps) based on project requirements.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant building codes, standards, and regulations.
• Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and project managers to ensure integrated building designs.
• Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and gather information for design development.
• Provide technical support during the construction and commissioning phases of projects.
• Troubleshoot and resolve HVAC system performance issues.
• Stay updated on the latest HVAC technologies, sustainable design practices, and energy efficiency standards.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC system design and engineering.
• Proficiency in HVAC design software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP, HAP).
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and psychrometrics.
• Familiarity with South African building codes and HVAC standards.
• Experience with energy modeling and sustainable design principles is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a project team.
• Experience working on projects in the Soweto, Gauteng area is beneficial.
