Senior Telecoms Network Operations Specialist

Our client, a key telecommunications provider, is seeking a highly proficient Senior Telecoms Network Operations Specialist to join their operational team in Soweto, Gauteng. This role is critical for ensuring the day-to-day health, performance, and reliability of the company's telecommunications network infrastructure. You will be involved in monitoring network systems, diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues, and implementing proactive measures to maintain service continuity.

• Monitor network performance, availability, and utilization using advanced network management tools.
• Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex network issues, including hardware, software, and configuration problems.
• Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and patching of network devices and systems.
• Respond to network alerts and incidents in a timely and efficient manner.
• Document network configurations, operational procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
• Collaborate with engineering and support teams to implement network changes and solutions.
• Ensure compliance with network security policies and best practices.
• Assist in capacity planning and network performance optimization initiatives.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior operations staff.
• Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 network support.

• National Diploma or Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in telecommunications network operations.
• Proven experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., Solar Winds, PRTG) and ticketing systems.
• In-depth knowledge of IP networking, TCP/IP, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and Ethernet.
• Experience with mobile network elements (e.g., base stations, core network) or fixed-line infrastructure.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Good communication and reporting skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and participate in on-call duties.
• Experience with in the Gauteng area is beneficial.
