Sanitation and Waste Management Supervisor

About the Role

Our client is seeking a hands-on and organized Sanitation and Waste Management Supervisor to manage daily operations in Soweto . This role is critical for ensuring that all cleaning and waste disposal activities are conducted efficiently, safely, and in compliance with environmental regulations. You will lead a team of sanitation workers, manage inventory, and implement protocols that maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the designated areas.

This is an important operational role contributing directly to the health and safety of the community and workforce in Gauteng .

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of sanitation staff, including cleaning, waste collection, and recycling efforts in Soweto .
• Develop and implement effective waste management strategies, ensuring proper segregation, disposal, and compliance with environmental laws.
• Conduct regular inspections of sanitation equipment and work areas, ensuring they are maintained in good working order and meet safety standards.
• Train new sanitation employees on proper procedures, safety protocols, and the use of equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of waste generated, collected, and disposed of, as well as inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Address any sanitation or waste management issues promptly, working collaboratively with relevant stakeholders to find solutions.

• Previous experience in a supervisory role within sanitation, waste management, or a related field.
• Knowledge of waste management regulations and best practices, including recycling and hazardous waste disposal.
• Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safety procedures.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and manage diverse staff.
• Physical fitness and the ability to perform tasks in various environmental conditions.
