Aircraft Painter

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Aircraft Painter to join their finishing team in Soweto . This role is responsible for applying protective coatings and aesthetic finishes to aircraft exteriors, ensuring a high-quality and durable result that meets strict aviation standards. You will prepare aircraft surfaces, mix paints, and expertly apply various coating systems, working with precision and attention to detail.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in industrial painting, understands paint chemistry, and is adept at working in a challenging, safety-conscious environment to deliver flawless finishes.

• Prepare aircraft surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, and priming according to specifications.
• Mix paints and coatings accurately to achieve desired colours, consistency, and application properties.
• Apply primers, base coats, and topcoats using spray guns and other application equipment, ensuring uniform coverage and finish.
• Inspect painted surfaces for defects, such as runs, sags, or inconsistencies, and perform necessary rework.
• Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and safety protocols regarding paint usage and disposal.
• Maintain painting equipment, tools, and work areas in clean and operational condition.

• Proven experience as an Aircraft Painter or a similar role in industrial painting, preferably within the aerospace sector.
• Strong understanding of paint chemistry, surface preparation techniques, and application methods for aerospace coatings.
• Proficiency in operating spray equipment and other painting tools.
• Ability to read and interpret technical data sheets and paint manufacturer instructions.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality finishes.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
