About the Role
Our client is looking for a skilled and safety-conscious Farm Machinery Operator to join their agricultural team in Soweto, Gauteng . This role is vital for the efficient execution of various farming tasks, requiring proficiency in operating a range of agricultural machinery. You will be responsible for performing tasks such as ploughing, planting, harvesting, and transporting materials using tractors, combines, and other specialized equipment.
The ideal candidate is experienced, possesses strong mechanical aptitude, and is committed to maintaining equipment and adhering to safety protocols to ensure optimal farm operations.
- Operate tractors, harvesters, planters, sprayers, and other farm machinery safely and efficiently.
- Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on machinery to ensure optimal working condition.
- Follow instructions for specific tasks, including field preparation, seeding, fertilizing, and pest control operations.
- Transport crops, materials, and equipment as needed across the farm and to designated locations.
- Monitor machinery performance and report any mechanical issues or operational concerns to supervisors promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all farm safety regulations and operating procedures.
- Proven experience as a Farm Machinery Operator or in a similar role operating heavy equipment.
- Valid driver's license, with relevant endorsements for operating farm vehicles.
- Proficiency in operating a variety of tractors and agricultural implements.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for routine maintenance and troubleshooting of machinery.
- Ability to work long hours during peak seasons and in various weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to safety and a responsible attitude towards equipment care.
