Community Relations Manager - Mining

Our client is seeking a proactive and empathetic Community Relations Manager to build and maintain strong relationships between their mining operations and local communities in and around Soweto. This role is essential for fostering social license to operate, managing stakeholder expectations, and ensuring that the company's activities contribute positively to community development in Gauteng. You will act as a key liaison, addressing concerns, facilitating dialogue, and implementing impactful community engagement initiatives.

• Develop and execute comprehensive community engagement strategies and plans.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with community leaders, local government officials, and residents.
• Manage community feedback mechanisms, addressing concerns and resolving issues effectively.
• Identify and support community development projects aligned with company social responsibility goals.
• Organize and facilitate community meetings, consultations, and stakeholder forums.
• Monitor and report on community sentiment and the effectiveness of engagement programs.
• Ensure compliance with social and labor plan requirements.

• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in community relations, stakeholder engagement, or CSR, preferably within the mining sector.
• Proven ability to engage effectively with diverse community groups and stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Strong understanding of community development principles and social impact assessments.
• Familiarity with the socio-economic landscape of the Gauteng region is advantageous.
