About the Role
Our client is seeking a forward-thinking Research Scientist specializing in Materials Science to join their dynamic R&D team in Soweto . This role is central to developing novel materials with advanced properties for various technological applications. You will be involved in the entire research lifecycle, from conceptualization and synthesis to characterization and performance evaluation. This hybrid position combines essential hands-on experimental work in the lab with remote data analysis and collaboration, offering a stimulating environment for a scientist eager to innovate and contribute to cutting-edge material development within a supportive and intellectually engaging setting.
Key Responsibilities- Design, synthesize, and characterize new materials with tailored properties using advanced techniques.
- Conduct experiments to evaluate material performance under various conditions.
- Utilize sophisticated characterization tools (e.g., SEM, TEM, XRD, spectroscopy) to understand material structure-property relationships.
- Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and propose next steps for research projects.
- Collaborate effectively with engineers and scientists from other disciplines.
- Prepare technical reports, research papers, and presentations for internal and external audiences.
- Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant research experience in materials synthesis and characterization.
- Proficiency with materials characterization techniques and data analysis software.
- Strong understanding of materials science principles and their applications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
