About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Biochemist to join their dynamic Drug Discovery team in Soweto . This crucial role involves designing and executing biochemical assays to identify and validate novel drug targets and therapeutic compounds. You will play a key part in advancing our understanding of disease mechanisms and contributing to the development of innovative treatments.

- Design, optimize, and validate biochemical and enzymatic assays for high-throughput screening (HTS).
- Characterize lead compounds and investigate their mechanism of action at the molecular level.
- Perform in vitro efficacy and potency testing of potential drug candidates.
- Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and present findings to the drug discovery team.
- Collaborate with medicinal chemists and biologists to guide lead optimization efforts.
- Maintain detailed laboratory records and contribute to scientific publications and reports.
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry , Molecular Biology, or a related life science discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in drug discovery research, with a strong emphasis on biochemical assay development and screening.
- Proven expertise in enzymology, protein purification, and biophysical characterization techniques.
- Experience with HTS platforms and data analysis software.
- Strong understanding of molecular biology principles and disease pathways.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, essential for working in Soweto .
