About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented Research Scientist with expertise in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology to join their innovative R&D team in Soweto. This position focuses on investigating biological pathways, developing new assays, and characterizing biomolecules. You will be instrumental in designing and conducting experiments, analyzing data, and contributing to the advancement of our scientific understanding and product development efforts. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated scientist to make significant contributions in a research-intensive environment located in Soweto.
Key Responsibilities- Design, execute, and optimize experiments in biochemistry and molecular biology, including protein purification, enzyme kinetics, and gene expression analysis.
- Develop and validate new assays for screening and characterization of biological targets and compounds.
- Perform molecular cloning, PCR, Western blotting, ELISA, and other relevant molecular biology techniques.
- Analyze experimental data using appropriate statistical methods and software, drawing clear conclusions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support research programs and product development.
- Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and contribute to the preparation of research reports and publications.
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of post-doctoral or industry research experience.
- Strong practical experience in protein biochemistry and molecular biology techniques.
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, with experience using relevant software tools.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for team collaboration and scientific reporting.
