Research Assistant - Polymer Science

About the Role

Our client is seeking a motivated Research Assistant to support their work in Polymer Science within the Scientific Research & Development division in Soweto. This role involves assisting senior scientists in experimental design, execution, and analysis related to the development and characterization of new polymer materials. It's an excellent opportunity for an individual eager to gain practical experience in polymer chemistry and materials science within a supportive research setting.

• Prepare polymer samples and perform experiments under the guidance of senior researchers.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including synthesis reactors and characterization instruments.
• Assist in data collection and preliminary analysis using standard laboratory software.
• Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment and adhere to safety protocols.
• Assist with literature searches and the preparation of basic research documentation.
• Support routine testing and quality control procedures for polymer materials.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or a related scientific field.
• Some laboratory experience, preferably in polymer synthesis or characterization.
• Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and safety procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for data recording and reporting.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail for precise experimental work in Soweto .
