Hybrid Tour Guide

About the Role

Our client is seeking an engaging and knowledgeable Hybrid Tour Guide with a passion for local history and culture, to lead tours in and around Soweto . This role requires an individual who can blend on-site guiding with remote preparation and communication, ensuring an exceptional experience for visitors. You will be responsible for developing and delivering informative and entertaining tours, sharing insights into the rich heritage and vibrant present of the area.

The ideal candidate is a natural storyteller, possesses excellent communication skills, and can adapt to a hybrid work model, balancing field responsibilities with administrative tasks.

• Lead engaging and informative walking and driving tours of Soweto and surrounding areas, sharing historical and cultural context.
• Develop and update tour routes, scripts, and content to ensure accuracy and relevance.
• Manage group dynamics and ensure the safety and satisfaction of all tour participants.
• Handle bookings, inquiries, and customer feedback, utilizing remote communication tools for administrative tasks.
• Collaborate with local businesses and stakeholders to enhance the tour experience.
• Maintain a high level of knowledge about the region's history, landmarks, and current events.

• Proven experience as a Tour Guide or in a customer-facing role with a strong focus on local knowledge.
• In-depth knowledge of the history, culture, and landmarks of Soweto and Johannesburg.
• Excellent storytelling and public speaking abilities.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage a hybrid schedule.
• Fluency in English and at least one other local language is advantageous.
• A valid driver's license and a clean driving record is a plus.
