About the Role

Our client is seeking a qualified and empathetic Family Support Counsellor to provide vital assistance to families in Soweto . This role focuses on strengthening family relationships, addressing challenges, and promoting a healthy family environment. You will offer guidance, support, and intervention strategies to families experiencing difficulties, utilizing a blend of in-person and remote sessions. This position is ideal for a professional dedicated to improving family well-being and resilience within the Gauteng community.

• Conduct family assessments to identify strengths, challenges, and support needs.
• Provide counselling and therapeutic interventions to families facing various issues (e.g., communication problems, stress, behavioural challenges).
• Develop and implement tailored family support plans.
• Facilitate workshops and group sessions for families on relevant topics.
• Connect families with community resources and support services.
• Maintain confidential records and adhere to professional ethical standards.

• A Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Family Therapy, or a related field.
• Registered as a professional with the relevant South African council (e.g., HPCSA, SACSSP).
• Proven experience in family counselling or therapy.
• Strong understanding of family systems theory and intervention techniques.
• Excellent active listening, empathy, and communication skills.
• Ability to work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends, and engage in hybrid service delivery.
