About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and resourceful Community Advocate and Support Worker to join their team in Soweto. This on-site role is critical for empowering individuals and families within the community by providing direct support, guidance, and advocacy. You will be instrumental in connecting residents with essential services, helping them overcome barriers, and fostering a greater sense of self-sufficiency and well-being.
This position requires a strong commitment to community engagement, excellent interpersonal skills, and a deep understanding of the local social landscape in Gauteng. Your work will directly contribute to the upliftment and empowerment of the Soweto community.
- Provide direct support and advocacy for community members navigating social services, healthcare, and legal systems.
- Conduct needs assessments and develop individualized support plans to address client challenges.
- Assist clients in accessing community resources, benefits, and opportunities for personal and professional development.
- Organize and lead community workshops and information sessions on relevant social issues.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, local leaders, and service providers.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records and ensure adherence to ethical guidelines.
- Diploma or Certificate in Social Work, Community Development, or a related field.
- Previous experience in community work, advocacy, or social support roles.
- Strong knowledge of social welfare issues and available resources in the Soweto area.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated passion for community empowerment and social justice.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a community setting.
