Senior Software Engineer; Cloud Services

Our client, a dynamic technology solutions provider based in Soweto, Gauteng , is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Engineer specializing in Cloud Services. This role is instrumental in designing, developing, and deploying scalable cloud-based applications and infrastructure. You will be responsible for leveraging cloud technologies to build robust, high-availability systems that meet our clients' evolving needs. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), microservices architecture, and Dev Ops practices.

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure cloud-native applications and services.
• Develop and manage infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or Cloud Formation.
• Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.
• Collaborate with development teams to define cloud architecture requirements and best practices.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Ensure security best practices are implemented across cloud environments.
• Develop and maintain documentation for cloud infrastructure and services.
• Evaluate and recommend new cloud technologies and services to improve efficiency and capabilities.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence.
• Participate in on-call rotations to provide support for production systems.

• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on cloud computing.
• Proven expertise in at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, Go, or Node.js.
• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Cloud Formation).
• Familiarity with Dev Ops principles and practices, including CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git Lab CI).
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a hybrid team.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
