Senior Software Development Manager

Our client, a rapidly growing technology solutions provider in Soweto, Gauteng , is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Software Development Manager to lead and mentor their software engineering teams. This leadership role is crucial for driving the design, development, and delivery of high-quality software products and services. You will be responsible for managing the entire software development lifecycle, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, and ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within scope.

• Lead, mentor, and manage multiple software development teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
• Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design through to implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Define and implement best practices in software development, including coding standards, testing methodologies, and release processes.
• Collaborate with product management, QA, and other stakeholders to define project roadmaps and ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Drive the adoption and refinement of Agile/Scrum methodologies within the development teams.
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software solutions.
• Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets effectively, ensuring on-time and within-budget project completion.
• Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support the professional development of team members.
• Identify and mitigate project risks and technical challenges proactively.
• Stay current with emerging software development technologies and methodologies, and champion their adoption where appropriate.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Master's degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in software development, with at least 4 years in a management or team lead role.
• Proven experience managing cross-functional software development teams and delivering complex software projects.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices.
• In-depth knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience implementing them.
• Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#, JavaScript).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and CI/CD pipelines is highly desirable.
• Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
