Transport Planner and Route Optimizer

Our client is seeking a meticulous Transport Planner and Route Optimizer to join their logistics department, based in Soweto . This role is fundamental to enhancing the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of their delivery operations across the Gauteng region and beyond. You will be responsible for designing optimal delivery routes, scheduling shipments, and coordinating with drivers to ensure timely and efficient transportation of goods.

The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, proficiency in route optimization software, and a deep understanding of logistical challenges within urban and provincial environments. This position is critical for streamlining operations and ensuring customer satisfaction.

• Analyze delivery requirements and plan the most efficient and cost-effective routes for the fleet.
• Utilize route optimization software to create dynamic schedules that minimize travel time and fuel consumption.
• Coordinate with drivers and dispatchers to communicate route plans, delivery windows, and any necessary updates.
• Monitor delivery progress in real-time, making adjustments to routes as needed due to traffic or unforeseen circumstances.
• Collaborate with warehouse and customer service teams to ensure seamless order fulfillment and delivery.
• Maintain accurate records of planned routes, actual delivery times, and operational costs.

• Proven experience in transport planning, route optimization, or logistics coordination.
• Proficiency with specialized route planning and optimization software (e.g., route optimization systems).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.
• Excellent understanding of transportation logistics, traffic patterns, and geographical constraints within Gauteng .
• Effective communication skills to liaise with drivers, management, and other departments.
• High school diploma or equivalent; further education or certification in logistics is a plus.
