Job Description & How to Apply Below

About the role:

We are supporting a welcoming SEND school in Spalding that provides personalised learning for older pupils who are working below age-related expectations. The school is committed to helping learners build their academic skills, confidence, and independence through adapted teaching approaches, structured routines, and a calm, supportive environment. This position is on a full-time, with an ASAP start.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, deliver and support adapted learning by breaking down tasks, simplifying language and modelling steps.
  • Scaffold activities so that older pupils working at a lower level can access lessons successfully.
  • Reinforce key skills and concepts to help learners make steady progress and engage confidently with the curriculum at their level.
  • Use clear, supportive strategies—including visual prompts, structured routines, hands‑on activities, and step‑by‑step guidance to maintain engagement and promote independence.
  • Encourage positive behaviour for learning by offering calm, consistent support, helping pupils regulate emotions, and guiding them back into tasks when they become distracted or overwhelmed.
Pre-requisites:
  • Experience supporting or delivering structured learning for children or young people, whether in schools, tutoring, youth settings, care environments, or clubs.
  • A strong understanding of special educational needs, particularly around adapting lessons for older pupils working at an earlier developmental or academic stage.
  • Confidence using a range of teaching approaches, including modelling tasks, simplifying instructions, and helping pupils stay focused and motivated.
  • Relevant training or qualifications such as QTS, PgCert, Childcare, Youth Work, or equivalent experience working with young people.
