About This Role
LVT is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the team at our American Fork HQ and Spanish Fork MFG facilities. You will work on core development for AI/ML enabled security solutions including optical pan/tilt cameras, batteries, solar power, electronics packaging, mechanisms, sensors, and payloads. The role requires high ownership and frequent collaboration with other core disciplines. The ideal candidate is practical, hands‑on, and a self‑starter.

Responsibilities
- Execute rapid evaluation of engineering concepts, identify partners in industry, and manage early vendor relationships.
- Perform trade studies and physics‑based analysis of various engineering problems.
- Manage internal and external market research and comparisons.
- Design, implement, and test complex electro‑mechanical systems (including actuators, wiring harnesses, sensor integration).
- Operate with system ownership in an area of professional autonomy.
- Demonstrate cross‑functional experience interfacing with electrical, embedded, and manufacturing engineering.
- Lead design reviews, run analysis, visit vendors, define and execute hardware test plans.
- Build prototypes, analyze failures, and transition successful projects into production.
- Support critical hardware demonstrations with customers as needed.
- Travel to test sites as needed.
- Use first principles physics as a basis for every decision.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience developing complex embedded products (consumer electronics, IoT, drones, camera systems, industrial automation, etc.) and a design portfolio.
- BS or MS in an engineering field, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of mechanical/design experience in a professional setting.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in a professional setting.
- CAD skills (PTC Creo and Windchill preferred) and ability to make high‑quality engineering drawings that meet industry standards.
- High competence with engineering first principles.
- Mentorship experience.
- DFM experience for sheet metal, welding, injection molding preferred.
