CEIS is seeking a Senior Commissioning Lead to direct commissioning activities for a major hyperscale data center program in Sparks, Nevada. This role oversees the full lifecycle of commissioning from early planning and scheduling through equipment startup, functional testing, documentation, and turnover. The Senior Commissioning Lead serves as the technical authority for MEP and controls systems, leads commissioning personnel, and ensures all project stakeholders remain aligned with the commissioning plan and mission‑critical performance requirements.
Responsibilities- Develop and manage the full commissioning plan and schedule, sequencing inspection, startup, and testing activities into the overall project master schedule.
- Partner with safety teams to establish and enforce LOTO programs in alignment with NFPA 70E electrical safety requirements.
- Utilize commissioning software platforms (BIM
360, ACC Build, CxAlloy, etc.) and ensure vendors, subcontractors, and commissioning agents fully participate in documentation workflows. - Collaborate with the client and their commissioning agent to integrate project‑specific requirements into CEIS commissioning procedures.
- Lead CEIS commissioning personnel, including direct oversight of the Cx Project Engineer and M&E Superintendents.
- Verify proper execution and documentation of all commissioning levels (L1–5) as defined in the commissioning plan.
- Coordinate vendor‑related activities including factory witness tests, startup scheduling, technical support, and commissioning deliverables.
- Prepare commissioning budgets, load bank plans, resource allocations, subcontractor Cx budgets, and procurement needs.
- Define commissioning scope boundaries and responsibility matrices; support Preconstruction in ensuring subcontractor commissioning scopes are clearly captured prior to award.
- Review and contribute to script development with the owners commissioning agent; validate script feasibility for field execution.
- Participate in all design review meetings, providing subject‑matter expertise on MEP systems, controls, and constructability.
- Review engineering calculations and subcontractor technical designs such as heat load calculations, startup plans, and system integration documentation.
- Coordinate closely with M&E teams on submittals, RFIs, and technical clarifications affecting commissioning readiness.
- Support QA/QC by validating technical quality checkpoints prior to commissioning signoff.
- Contribute to CEIS Mission‑Critical initiatives including development of commissioning best practices, cross‑project resource coordination, and support for other projects when schedules permit.
- Perform additional duties necessary to support project goals and senior‑level commissioning leadership.
- Technical engineering degree or equivalent hands‑on technical experience (minimum 5 years).
- Proven leadership in commissioning roles across multiple data center or mission‑critical projects.
- Detailed knowledge of NFPA 70E, LOTO implementation, and electrical safety procedures.
- Direct commissioning or startup experience in electrical, mechanical, or controls/BMS systems.
- Strong working knowledge of mission‑critical mechanical, electrical, and automation system topologies.
- Experience working for a general contractor on hyperscale data center construction projects.
- Proficiency with MS Office, Bluebeam, Procore, BIM
360, and commissioning documentation software. - Ability to interpret construction documents including system schematics, single‑line diagrams, and equipment schedules.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage stakeholders, and communicate technical information clearly.
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record per.
- Ability to travel to the site up to 5 days per week or relocate to the project area.
