Facilities Maintenance Planner – Tesla

What to ExpectTesla is seeking a seasoned Maintenance Planner with relevant industry experience to support Tesla’s Gigafactory Nevada infrastructure. This position will be directly responsible for planning and scheduling daily maintenance and projects in various stages, as well as tracking and reporting progress during execution. The Maintenance Planner determines the proper scope of a job to solve the problem’s root cause and how to complete the job.
Job scope will include identifying the labor requirements, materials, special tools, equipment, and sequence of job steps required to safely, efficiently, and effectively accomplish a given task.
- Initial screening and resource assignment for open dispatches
- Schedule preventative maintenance activities and ensure completion
- Identify equipment failure trends, support root cause analysis, and coordinate remediation
- Develop safety and standard repair procedures, ensuring constant compliance
- Organize maintenance documentation, drawings, and record‑keeping
- Effectively use work‑order and issue‑management systems
- Manage planned downtime activities, estimate labor and resources, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to enhance equipment reliability and minimize downtime
- Technical proficiency in CMMS, workplace software, and reading mechanical drawings/electrical schematics
- Mechanical experience in manufacturing/industrial equipment, including leadership and organizational skills
- Certifications in operating industrial equipment and expertise in rigging, hoisting, and lifting
- Troubleshooting and repair skills in electronics, hydraulics, and pneumatics, with GD&T knowledge
- Proven safety compliance, including safety inspections and use of various tools
- Coordinates/ manages project schedules, liaises with external contractors, and fills gaps by performing tasks when internal cross‑functional teams are unavailable
- Preferred: AS/BS Degree, advanced machining/fabrication, high‑voltage system experience, and PLC knowledge (Allen Bradley/Siemens)
