Job DescriptionThe CNC Machinist, reporting to the Manager of Mechanical Engineering, will work in the iRF Intelligent RF Solutions team in Sparks, MD. The role involves designing and developing CNC programs using CAD/CAM software, setting up and operating CNC machinery, and ensuring high‑precision machining operations.
Essential Functions- Identify and determine appropriate fixturing, tooling, and related resources required for fabrication processes.
- Collaborate with engineers and supervisors to review project specifications, ensuring alignment between design intent and final product; recommend and implement design modifications when necessary.
- Utilize CAM software to model tool paths and generate accurate CNC programs.
- Adjust machine parameters, including speed, tooling, and cutting techniques, to achieve optimal precision and accuracy during fabrication.
- Monitor machining operations, make real‑time adjustments as needed, and proactively address errors to maintain quality standards.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical or programming issues with CNC equipment as they arise.
Conduct thorough inspections of finished components to verify dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and overall conformance to specifications. - Perform routine maintenance tasks such as lubrication, cleaning, and documentation to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.
- Maintain the CNC Tooling Library within the Product Data Management (PDM) system.
- Maintain the CNC Fixturing Library within the PDM system.
- Ensure proper revision control of CNC programs within the PDM system.
- Update and manage the CNC Preventive Maintenance (PM) Database as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.
- Minimum of 5 years CNC experience with tooling knowledge required.
- Knowledge of HAAS 3‑axis CNC machine and Mastercam CAM programming software preferred.
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Preferred experience with Solid Works or similar CAD software.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Skilled in interpreting technical drawings and schematics.
- Experienced in troubleshooting and resolving mechanical or logistical issues.
- Able to work independently or collaboratively, depending on project requirements.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to quality standards, with a solid understanding of ESD protocols and safety best practices.
- Capable of standing for extended periods.
- Able to perform tasks involving reaching, lifting, and bending.
- Preferred ability to lift between 25 and 50 pounds.
- Must pass a pre‑employment drug screening and background check.
