Summary:
The Senior Pump Mechanic will repair/fabricate a variety of centrifugal, gear, diaphragm, and reciprocating pumps, gear reducers and related rotating equipment, troubleshoot, disassemble, inspect and repair a variety of rotating equipment including centrifugal pumps (single and multi-stage), gear pumps, reciprocating pumps and metering pumps, gear reducers, blowers (vacuum and pressure), mechanical seals, and many other types of equipment.

Description and responsibilities reflect the Senior Pump Mechanic role within DXP’s organization and culture focused on customer service, quality, and development opportunities.
Responsibilities- Receive, disassemble, inspect, repair, paint, and package/prepare for shipment API centrifugal pumps as well as other related rotating equipment.
- Assist with training and developing Pump Mechanic personnel to ensure efficient use of manpower and compliance with customer requirements.
- Monitor progress of repairs and assign and guide shop personnel to complete those repairs.
- Serve as one of the most experienced tradesmen in the shop.
- Set the positive leadership tone and behavior.
- Interact with customers in a positive way showing them how DXP cares about their business.
- Assist the Supervisor in the execution of all work.
- 10+ years of experience working in a pump repair shop facility with previous experience repairing API centrifugal pumps and other related rotating equipment.
- Experience repairing API/Engineered pumps, creating details, and making technical decisions.
- In-depth understanding of API 610 and other applicable standards.
- Ability to read pump sectional, machine drawings, and OEM pump manuals.
- Disassembly, inspection, ability to write up a detailed rotating equipment report for repairs and/or replacement parts needed (e.g., assembly prep, assembly, pneumatic pressure testing of assembled equipment, painting of finished repair and final inspection).
- Safely use hand, power, pneumatic and hydraulic tools.
- Experience with pneumatic and hydrostatic testing of parts and equipment.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical seal drawings, mechanical seal removal, installation, and pneumatic pressure testing (preferred).
- Ability to work with multiple and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to achieve results with minimal supervision.
- Background check, physical, and drug test required.
- Physical Demand:
Ability to lift up to 90 lbs. - Working Conditions:
Must be able to work in a shop environment without AC and heat, with possible exposure to dirt, heat, and noise. - Shift Time/Overtime:
Day shift and regular overtime. - Education:
High School Diploma or GED.
