Quality Supervisor, Powerwall — Tesla

We are seeking an energetic, team-oriented people‑person to be responsible for the performance of Quality Technicians and Inspectors on shift. The Quality Supervisor will manage a team of technicians and inspectors to ensure they perform at a high level while meeting the needs of the production floor and product quality. This individual will be responsible for Quality assurance related metrics for their shift and will performance manage their team to generate the highest value from every employee while maintaining a high level of technical ability.

Responsibilities
  • Guide and coordinate Quality Technicians on shift, taking primary ownership for their training and ability to maintain conformance to quality procedures, specifications, and interact with Manufacturing team members to determine shift priorities and allocation of labor.
  • Drive improvement activities across the shift to increase team knowledge and capability and align with Quality Engineering team to support validation and root‑cause investigation activities.
  • Adhere to strict 5S standards and maintain cleanliness in the work area and observe all safety policies during the execution of required tasks and work with and around hazardous areas and hazardous chemicals and materials.
  • Work from schematics, diagrams, layouts, defined plans, and written/verbal instructions.
  • Maintain quality performance metrics and drive issues to root‑cause solutions and audit manufacturing line against released manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Provide coaching and training to Quality Technicians, define goals and performance metrics. Conduct bi‑weekly 1 × 1’s with each individual technician.
  • Tesla people leaders are responsible for a variety of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) assurance functions, including ensuring their teams’ safety training is current, documenting EHS incidents, proactively correcting workplace hazards, and empowering others to continuously improve operations.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of leadership experience with a team of 10 or more employees.
  • Must understand general manufacturing processes, Quality methodologies, and team leadership; reliable, proactive, and adaptable to work schedule and environment.
  • Capable of providing constructive feedback, multitasking and adapting to constant change, and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information. Effective verbal and written communications skills, strong attention to detail, flexibility, and prioritization.
  • Physical requirements:

    sit, stand, or walk for 10+ hours per day; wear required PPE and air‑purifying respirator when needed; lift 10–20 lbs regularly; perform repetitive hand and wrist motions; may need to climb ladders/stairs and work in a loud environment. Must discern audible alarms, distinguish colors, and possess accurate depth perception.
  • Strong aptitude with electronic and mechanical test and measurement systems; proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams. Applicable documented training and/or certifications are a plus.
  • Proficiency in using technological tools and business system applications to manage, synthesize, and interpret data; ability to use Microsoft Office.
  • Command of the English language, both written and verbal.
