General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets all customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow associates with respect, follows company best practices, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be requested to perform additional tasks as business needs require.

Essential Functions
  • Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor, ensuring a safe and secure shopping environment for everyone. Keep egress clear and immediately report or correct unsafe conditions.
  • Treat all customers and associates with respect and courtesy; greet customers with eye contact, a smile, and a friendly tone.
  • Assist customers at the register, with merchandise, and answer questions politely and knowledgeably.
  • Respond promptly to customers and handle all customer issues in a courteous and helpful way, calling management when needed.
  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks—sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high‑touch areas—to maintain merchandise, customers, and team areas.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the company’s dress code.
  • Perform daily assigned sizing and recovery per company best practice to keep the store neat, clean, and organized.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise receipts to the sales floor with urgency and merchandise all items per company best practice.
  • Understand Loss Prevention Awareness, the Shortage Highway, and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty, safeguarding confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Follow all Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock (MOS) policies and properly process disposals, notifying management.
  • Follow all cash, check, credit card, refund, void, and offline procedures; handle bankable tenders accurately.
  • Execute store best practices efficiently, minimizing steps and touches.

Qualifications and Special Skills
  • Effectively communicate with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative manner.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations common to retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
  • Use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs.
  • Stand, walk, and move around the store during 100 % of the work time.
  • Bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
  • Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lb.
  • Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
  • Some assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.
  • Stockroom shifts:
    Push, pull, and lift more than 20 lb regularly.
