Position Overview:The Carpenter – Journeyman performs skilled construction, installation, and repair work involving wood, metal, and composite structures used in industrial and commercial construction. This position requires advanced knowledge of layout, fabrication, and assembly techniques, along with strict adherence to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:Structural Construction: Build, install, and repair frameworks, scaffolding, partitions, concrete forms, and industrial enclosures.
Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret drawings, sketches, and blueprints to determine layout and materials required.
Fabrication: Measure, cut, shape, and assemble materials using hand and power tools to precise specifications.
Finishing Work: Install doors, frames, platforms, and related finishes according to design and tolerance standards.
Safety Compliance: Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with OSHA and company safety policies.
Mentorship: Provide guidance and instruction to Apprentice Carpenters and coordinate with other trades to complete work efficiently.
Required Qualifications:Minimum of four (4) years of verifiable carpentry experience in industrial or commercial settings.
Strong understanding of carpentry materials, methods, and building codes.
Proficiency in reading blueprints, layouts, and technical drawings.
Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment.
Commitment to quality workmanship and safety practices.
Preferred Experience:OSHA 30-Hour Safety Certification.
Experience with industrial structures, scaffolding, or concrete form systems.
Certification or training in rigging or fall protection.
Work is performed on active construction and maintenance sites, often outdoors and in varying weather conditions. The position requires standing, bending, climbing, and lifting for extended periods, as well as adherence to safety protocols.
Reporting Structure:Reports to the Carpenter – Foreman or Project Superintendent. May mentor apprentices and coordinate with other skilled trades.
Compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and project scope, in accordance with Nevada law.
