Position Overview:The HVAC – Journeyman is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems in industrial and commercial environments. This position requires advanced technical expertise, adherence to safety and code compliance, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:- Section Installation:
Install, assemble, and connect HVAC and refrigeration systems, including ductwork, piping, and controls. - Maintenance & Repairs:
Diagnose and repair malfunctioning HVAC units, compressors, fans, and related components. - Testing & Calibration:
Conduct performance tests and calibrate systems to ensure efficiency and compliance with specifications. - Blueprint Interpretation:
Read and interpret plans, schematics, and specifications for HVAC installations. - Safety & Compliance:
Follow all company safety policies and procedures, maintaining compliance with OSHA and mechanical codes. - Mentorship:
Provide guidance and support to apprentices and less‑experienced technicians.
- Valid HVAC Technician or Mechanical License (as applicable for Nevada).
- Minimum of four (4) years of verifiable experience in HVAC installation and service.
- Proficient in mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Strong problem‑solving, communication, and time‑management skills.
- EPA Section 608 Certification (Type I, II, or Universal).
- OSHA 30‑Hour Certification.
- Experience with industrial HVAC systems, chillers, and process cooling equipment.
- Work occurs in both indoor and outdoor environments, often in industrial settings with exposure to noise, temperature changes, and confined spaces. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
Reports to the HVAC – Foreman or Project Superintendent. May mentor apprentices and coordinate with other trades.
Compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and project scope, in accordance with Nevada law.
