Night Shift Maintenance Technician

U.S. Silica is seeking an experienced Night Shift Maintenance Technician to join our team at our Sparta, Wisconsin plant. This position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and repair of mechanical and electrical systems and production equipment to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.

The Maintenance Technician works closely with Operations and other Maintenance team members to identify equipment issues, complete scheduled maintenance, minimize downtime, and support continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong industrial maintenance experience, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work safely in a mining and industrial environment.

Hours:

Night Shift 6PM - 6AM

• Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on plant equipment and production systems.
• Safely perform timely repairs to minimize equipment downtime and support continuous plant operations.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance in accordance with established maintenance schedules and procedures.
• Troubleshoot and repair production, mechanical, electrical, and safety-related equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical documents, electrical schematics, and ladder logic diagrams.
• Assist with the planning, installation, modification, and commissioning of new plant equipment and systems.
• Support capital and maintenance projects while meeting established safety, schedule, and budget requirements.
• Complete work orders accurately and within established timelines.
• Communicate effectively with Operations personnel regarding equipment status, maintenance activities, and repair needs.
• Work collaboratively with other Maintenance Technicians and Production Operators to coordinate maintenance activities while minimizing disruption to production and product quality.
• Identify equipment reliability concerns and recommend repairs, modifications, or improvements.
• Document equipment, system, and process changes and improvements.
• Perform welding, cutting, and other hot work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Identify critical spare parts and assist with ensuring appropriate inventory is available to support plant operations.
• Operate plant equipment, forklifts, aerial lifts, and other equipment as required.
• Complete required documentation for maintenance activities, parts requests, tools, repairs, inspections, and completed work.
• Follow all company safety requirements and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout/Tryout (LOTOTO), Confined Space, MSHA requirements, and other U.S. Silica safety policies.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support safe and effective plant operations.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 3 years of maintenance technician experience in an industrial, manufacturing, mining, or similar heavy industrial environment.
• Working knowledge of Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) requirements and practices.
• Previous forklift operating experience.
• Previous warehouse experience.
• Basic computer literacy and experience using computer software required to complete work orders, documentation, and other maintenance-related tasks.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical documents, electrical schematics, and ladder logic diagrams.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Basic mathematical skills, including fractions and elementary geometry.
• Ability to perform welding and other hot-work activities safely.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team with employees of varying skill and experience levels.
