Accounts Payable Specialist

Description

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support day-to-day financial operations for a Contract to Hire opportunity in Spartanburg, South Carolina. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing invoice flow, maintaining accurate coding, and ensuring timely payment processing in a machinery and work tools environment. The successful candidate will bring strong attention to detail, sound organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively with accounting records and payment activities.

Responsibilities:

- Review incoming invoices for accuracy, completeness, and proper approval before processing them for payment.

- Assign the correct general ledger codes to invoices and expenses to maintain accurate financial records.

- Process accounts payable transactions in a timely manner, including ACH payments and scheduled check runs.

- Reconcile vendor statements and research discrepancies to resolve payment or coding issues efficiently.

- Maintain organized documentation for invoices, payment records, and supporting accounting materials.

- Coordinate with internal teams to confirm purchase details, inventory-related charges, and payment status when needed.

- Assist with routine accounts payable reporting and support month-end close activities related to payables.

Requirements

- At least 2 years of experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role.

- Hands-on experience with invoice coding, account coding, and full-cycle invoice processing.

- ERP Systems and SAP experience strongly preferred.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and maintain precise records.

- Effective communication and organizational skills to manage multiple deadlines and vendor inquiries.

- Experience supporting inventory-related invoice review or purchasing documentation is preferred.
