DescriptionWe are hiring a Registered Nurse to join our Med Surg Tele team at Cherokee Medical Center in Gaffney, SC. The unit has 28 beds and utilizes the latest technology such as Omnicell, Epic, Alaris Pumps, Workstation on Wheels, and Mindray for vitals. The case mix includes Medical Surgical, COPD, Stroke, Diabetes, Acute Renal Failure, and more. Cross‑training to ICU and/or ED is available for those who wish to grow.
Our diverse patient population and case types enable unit members to develop as SRHS Strong RNs.
Sign‑on bonus: $7,500.00 for eligible experienced RNs; $15,000.00 for new graduate RNs.
Responsibilities- Basic computer skills.
- Demonstrate competency utilizing the electronic health record.
- Document all aspects of patient care following established charting procedures.
- Adhere to system‑required standards of behavior and proper chain of command.
- Meet continuing education requirements and ensure compliance with clinical expectations of regulatory agencies (DNV, DHEC, CMS).
- Effectively communicate with patients, families, providers, and hospital associates.
- Knowledgeable in use of and response to facility alert, medical alert, and medical emergency systems.
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise plan of care based on the patient’s physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and educational needs.
- Provide a safe patient care environment.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and other team members to determine patient priorities and treatments.
- Coordinate, provide, and direct patient teaching activities.
- Initiate and facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance outcomes.
- Seek necessary assistance in completing nursing interventions to assure positive patient outcomes.
- Demonstrate competencies for new equipment, procedures, and annual competency validation.
- Provide clinical guidance to students and ancillary staff.
- Successfully complete hospital and unit‑based orientation programs and annual competencies.
- Formulate a plan for personal professional growth.
- Recommend the need to develop or revise policies and procedures.
- Serve on unit‑based committees as assigned.
- Prioritize nursing interventions for an assigned group of patients.
- Critically assess assigned patients’ medical history, admitting diagnosis, and physician’s orders; obtain nursing history, perform physical assessment; evaluate diagnostic data; interview patient and family to determine needs.
- Properly assess and prioritize multiple patients according to severity of illness, injury, and/or needs.
- Provide quality patient care in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Professionally interact and communicate with patients from all age groups, diverse backgrounds, and varying educational levels, including those who may be confused, irrational, agitated, or uncooperative.
- Utilize nursing standards and protocols to manage and stabilize emergencies until a provider responds.
- Demonstrate knowledge of professional nursing practice and theory.
- Ensure continuity of care through effective decision making resulting in quality patient care.
- Remain committed to unit, department, and division goals.
- Support patient experience initiatives.
- Participate in purposeful rounding, bedside shift reports, and huddles.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory agency requirements (DNV, DHEC, CMS).
- Demonstrate appropriate standards of care, clinical pathways, and milestones to drive the plan of care.
- Comply with current policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Graduate of an approved or accredited School of Nursing.
- Novice to expert nurse experience.
- Current RN licensure in the State of South Carolina or a Compact State.
- BLS certification (may be secured post‑hire).
- One year of recent RN experience within the past five years (preferred).
