The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Cross‑trained on Clinical and Administrative responsibilities for the SMC Diabetes & Endocrinology Office in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Schedule:

Monday‑Thursday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Fridays 8:00 am – 12:00 pm

Description

The Licensed Practical Nurse is cross‑trained on both clinical and administrative responsibilities. Clinical duties include recording vital signs, compiling medical histories, administering medications under a supervising physician, phlebotomy, performing waived lab tests, EKGs, and injections, and assisting with exams and minor office surgery. Administrative duties encompass scheduling appointments, managing billing, assisting patients with insurance forms, sending prescriptions electronically, and handling telephone messages.

Minimum Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of a Practical Nursing Program
  • Experience: Not required
  • License/Registration/

    Certifications:

    • South Carolina LPN Nursing License
    • Current CPR Certification

Core Job Responsibilities
  • Measure and record vital signs, take patient medical history and chief complaint, and record information accurately.
  • Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies.
  • Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
  • Assist with scheduling of tests and treatments.
  • Prepare patients for examination.
  • Perform phlebotomy, finger sticks, and collect other lab specimens.
  • Assist the provider with exams and minor office surgery.
  • Adhere to and practice appropriate infection control policies.
  • Screens, manages, and follows up telephone messages from patients, referrals, and pharmacies.
  • Prepare and send prescriptions electronically per provider’s orders.
  • Perform waived lab tests, EKGs, and administer injections.
  • Apply dressing and remove sutures as ordered by the provider.
  • Use CPR skills when required.
  • Dispose of biohazard waste according to state standards.
  • Maintain OSHA requirements and practice OSHA standards.
  • Perform accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
