Campus Security Officer – Temporary
Title: Campus Security Officer – Temporary
Location: Spartanburg, SC
Salary: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour (based on experience)
Hours: 20 per week, Monday – Friday; 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm
Job Summary: Campus Safety Officers will lock and secure University buildings and classrooms, provide safety and security for the campus community and those visiting the University. They will also work to prevent theft or damage to equipment, deter disorderly conduct, support University Police, and perform stationary post assignments to monitor doors, areas, and people.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that exterior doors are locked according to schedule and perform regular safety checks of buildings and grounds.
- Unlock doors for authorized personnel as directed by an authorized University official or supervisor.
- Patrol campus property for unusual conditions such as fires, prowlers, trespassers, vandalism, suspicion, or other unsafe conditions.
- Patrol campus and issue citations to illegally parked vehicles.
- Ensure that those loading or unloading equipment or materials from buildings have proper authorization.
- Respond to assist patrol officers as needed.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Valid South Carolina driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Successful background check.
Preferred Qualifications: Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice; prior safety, security, or law enforcement experience.
