Job SummaryTechnicians install low-voltage cabling systems, terminate devices, set equipment for electronic and communication systems, and perform testing and troubleshooting under the direction of the Lead Technician and Foreman. Technicians interpret blueprints and schematics to ensure installations are safe, accurate, and compliant with industry, company, and local code standards.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Install and terminate coax (RG6, LMR
400, ½”), UTP, multiconductor, DAS, AV, access control, intrusion detection, and fiber-optic cables and connectors. - Build and follow daily "to-do” lists with minimal direction.
- Client out cable pathways independently and confirm pathway compliance with standards.
- Follow up with Installers to ensure work meets industry standards, Kane standards, and local codes.
- Perform copper and fiber testing and troubleshooting using proper equipment and procedures.
- Interpret and follow construction drawings, plans, blueprints, and specifications.
- Make installation recommendations based on codes, standards, and best practices.
- Execute the job plan and scope as directed by the Foreman and Lead Technician.
- Plan weekly look-ahead for material and labor requirements.
- Accept constructive feedback and apply it appropriately.
- Install racks, cabinets, cable supports, firestop materials, and related infrastructure.
- Install electronic equipment including switches, UPS units, cameras, and related devices.
- Operate cable test equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
- Report daily status and progress of assigned tasks to the project Lead Technician.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Maintain professional dress and appearance consistent with company policies.
- Document relevant conversations with trade partners, GC, EC, and owners; report to Lead Technician or Foreman.
- Provide reliable transportation to and from work sites.
- Comply with all department standards, policies, and procedures.
- Promote and communicate the importance of workplace safety and professionalism.
- Discuss and assist in planning pathways, spaces, bonding/grounding, and fire stopping with the project Lead/Foreman.
- Select appropriate tools and methods for specific tasks.
- Travel may be required.
- Read, understand, follow, and promote company policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate knowledge of copper and fiber color codes.
- Follow direction from Leads, Foremen, equipment manuals, and company procedures.
- Assist with material tracking and reporting.
Schedule is M-F, 7 to 3:30 for now. OT to come when things ramp up.

Must meet Installer-level qualifications (see Installer job description) and pass internal skills test.
- Proficiency with:
- Basic smartphone and tablet functions
- Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Smart Sheet
- Knowledge of industry-standard copper and fiber color codes and termination methods.
- OSHA 10 certification required.
- 1–2 years of low-voltage installation experience in commercial construction.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Relevant certifications and/or licenses preferred.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Must pass a drug screen, background check, and I-9 verification.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and communicate clearly.
- Close vision required for detailed work.

Work may occur in commercial construction, new construction, tenant improvement, occupied medical/retail buildings, outside plant environments, and data centers.
