Location: USC Upstate, Spartanburg, SC
Salary: $40,000 (commensurate with qualifications and experience)
Hours: 37.5 per week (Mon–Fri 8:30‑5pm; occasional evenings/weekends; travel required)
Job Summary: The Director of Development Soccer/Head Coach is responsible for the overall administration and success of the Men’s and Women’s Development Soccer Programs. The primary purpose is to recruit student‑athletes, schedule opponents, organize conditioning, plan practices, and administer team rules and regulations for the Men’s and Women’s Development Soccer programs.
Responsibilities- Recruit student‑athletes: conduct recruiting, meet admissions criteria, uphold character and academic standards.
- Coordinate team travel: schedule contests, arrange transportation, meals and lodging.
- Budget control: monitor and plan use of the Men’s & Women’s Development Soccer budgets for recruiting, travel, uniforms and equipment.
- Teacher and mentor: instruction on skills, techniques, values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and team rules.
- Fund‑raising: support departmental fundraising activities.
- Hire, train, supervise and evaluate coaching staff.
- Other duties as assigned by Athletics Director.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum 3 years of coaching and/or playing experience, or equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
- Good driving record, valid driver’s license, and successful background check.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations (preferred).
- Exceptional interpersonal, computer, and written/oral communication skills (preferred).
