Northern Hills Training Center (NHTC) is seeking a compassionate, organized, and detail-oriented Medical Services Assistant to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in accessing quality healthcare. This role plays a vital part in coordinating medical appointments, maintaining health records, ensuring accurate medication documentation, and advocating for individuals while promoting dignity, independence, and person-centered care.
What You'll Do- Schedule, coordinate, confirm, and transport individuals to medical appointments.
- Attend appointments as needed and communicate important information to healthcare providers and support teams.
- Ensure medical documentation is completed accurately and maintained in compliance with agency standards.
- Assist with medication tracking, medication orders, MAR updates, and medication distribution.
- Pick up medications from pharmacies and deliver them to the appropriate locations.
- Maintain current healthcare records, appointment schedules, and medical documentation.
- Monitor and replenish medical and first aid supplies as needed.
- Support individuals in understanding and participating in their healthcare needs.
- Maintain confidentiality of health information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Assist the Director of Medical Services with administrative and recordkeeping tasks.
- Collaborate with nurses, residential teams, and healthcare providers to ensure quality care.
- Compassion and respect for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Attention to detail and accurate documentation skills.
- Professionalism, reliability, and accountability.
- Ability to work independently while remaining a collaborative team member.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and web-based documentation systems.
- Ability to complete required agency training.
- CPR Certification (or ability to obtain).
- Experience working in healthcare, human services, disability services, medical office administration, or direct support.
- Experience with medication administration and healthcare documentation.
