Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring recent L&D experience, SD or compact RN license, and ability to work variable 12-hour shifts.
Responsibilities- Work in the Labor & Delivery unit with 8 beds
- Patient population includes laboring, postpartum, antepartum, newborns, infants under 28 days old, and Level 2A nursery care for sick babies
- Cares for Gyn-Surgical and mastectomy post-op patients, but preference given to those comfortable with these cases
- Laboring patient ratio is 1:2, couplet care ratio is 1:3-4
- No dedicated CNAs for L&D but facility-wide support is available 24/7
- Variable 12-hour shifts with both 36- and 48-hour weekly options
- Flexible floating within scope of practice, including Med/Surg as CNA support
- Uses Epic EMR, experience required
- Works every other weekend and holidays as scheduled, with on-call assigned per census and rotation
- Provides comprehensive care for L&D, postpartum, antepartum, and select post-op Gyn patients
- Centralized fetal monitoring and collaborative support from charge nurse, RT, and lab services
- Orientation is typically one week, tailored to experience
- Hospital-provided scrubs are required
- Free parking is available
- Must be able to work rotating holidays and be on-call as scheduled
- Two time-off requests per year must be submitted before publication of next schedule
- First-time travelers accepted with adequate L&D experience
- Active SD or compact RN license
- Graduation from an approved nursing program
- At least one year of recent L&D nursing experience required
- Certifications:
BLS, ACLS, and NRP - Ability to interpret and intervene with EFM, and perform adult and neonatal assessment
- Must reside at least 100 miles from the facility to qualify
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must wait one year after permanent employment at the facility before returning as a traveler
