• Provides overall support to the classroom teacher and students, based on the needs of the classroom;
• Assists classroom teacher in preparing lessons and related materials;
• Incorporates knowledge of student learning styles and child development to assist student learning;
• Recognizes when teaching and learning strategies are not successful and seeks the guidance of the classroom teacher to adapt assistance accordingly;
• Provides support in crisis situations using district-approved safety/restraint protocol when necessary;
• Other duties, as required

PHYSICAL

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work involves student interaction, and is performed primarily in a classroom setting. Extended periods of walking, standing, bending, and stooping to assist students, may be necessary.

Position Type: Full-time

Salary: $19 to $24 Per Hour

• Satisfactory CORi, SORi, and Fingerprinting are required
  • 1. Associate's Degree or successful completion of the Para Pro exam;
  • 2. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, to children and adults;
  • 3. Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education in a related field, while not required, considered a plus;
  • 4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.
• At least 2 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
