Accounting Supervisor

Ensures that accounting practices are in compliance with appropriate grant requirements, and other financial reporting requirements as required by law.  Performs other related duties as required/assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Four (4) years of progressively responsible accounting experience which involved the application of advanced accounting principles and theories to an accounting operation in an agency; including supervising office staff;
Substituting college graduate level course work in accounting/finance for up to two years of the experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of governmental accounting theory, policies and practices.

Knowledge of personal computers, accounting systems, and policies and procedures development. Knowledge of grant accounting theory, policies and practices.

Knowledge and application of the Washington State Budgeting, Accounting, Reporting System (BARS). Knowledge of computerized accounting practices as required by the position. Ability to interpret and apply County accounting procedures and the BARS system. Ability to analyze financial and accounting records and to prepare and maintain clear and concise reports.

Ability to provide direction to other accounting personnel in a manner which will result in accurate and legal accounting transactions.
