Job Description
The Assurance Experienced Senior will coordinate the day-to-day "in-charge" duties of planning, fieldwork, and wrap-up, including preparing financial statements with disclosures, applying most areas of GAAP as necessary, and documenting, validating, testing, and assessing various internal control systems. This position acts as the client contact for basic questions and information and may be involved in reviews and agreed-upon procedure engagements.
Job Duties- Control Environment – Apply knowledge of factors affecting policy effectiveness, risk mitigation, and procedure design. The auditor in charge is responsible for day-to-day conduct of the audit work and ensuring field work is completed on time, in accordance with Firm policies and budget.
- GAAP – Apply governing principles to client transactions, document and communicate understanding and application, and ensure financial statement disclosures are properly handled. Identify and apply new pronouncements; discuss complex accounting issues with the Manager, Senior Manager, and engagement partner.
- SEC and PCAOB – Apply SEC and PCAOB guidelines, review SEC filings for accuracy and support in work papers, and prepare communications to the Client and Audit Committee. Plan and execute Section 404 internal control audits.
- GAAS – Apply GAAS standards, formulate and communicate the audit plan, assess testing scope, use audit manuals appropriately, and document deviations.
- Methodology – Apply BDO standards and audit approach, use tools and technology to deliver quality work under deadlines. Identify and propose outcomes to critical issues.
- Research – Use internal and external research tools to inform routine and complex accounting treatments; document findings and assist in forming the audit strategy.
- Project Management – Coordinate planning, fieldwork, and review with the audit team and client; support budgeting and resource planning; develop audit engagement planning material and budgets; clarify responsibilities of audit staff.
- Supervisory Responsibilities – Supervise audit professionals, provide feedback, and coach associates. Other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics, required; OR Bachelor’s degree in another field plus CPA certification;
Master’s degree in Accountancy preferred. - Three (3) or more years of prior relevant audit experience; prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Eligible to sit for the CPA exams upon starting employment, required; CPA certification preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with assurance applications and research tools preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to develop people and delegate effectively; executive presence to be primary client contact.
- Ability to oversee all stages of the audit, including planning, fieldwork, and wrap-up; ability to prepare and/or review financial statements with GAAP disclosures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics required; OR CPA-certified with a related bachelor’s degree;
Master’s degree in Accountancy preferred. - CPA eligibility to sit for exams required; active pursuit of certification preferred.
- Three or more years of relevant audit experience required; supervisory experience preferred.
