Accounts Payable Clerk

Description

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join an established organization in Spokane Valley, WA. This position is fully onsite Monday-Friday. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is well suited for someone who brings prior accounts payable or accounting support experience and enjoys managing detailed work with a high level of ownership. In this role, you will help keep vendor payments on track, maintain orderly financial records, and support the accounting team through accurate and timely processing.

Responsibilities:

- Review incoming invoices, assign appropriate general ledger coding, and enter them accurately into the accounting system.

- Handle payable documents submitted from multiple retail locations and the distribution operation while keeping records current and organized.

- Confirm that each invoice includes correct pricing, approvals, account coding, and backup documentation before processing.

- Investigate payment or billing issues and work through discrepancies to reach timely resolution.

- Maintain vendor profiles and update payment details to support accurate transactions and reliable records.

- Respond to vendor inquiries regarding invoice status, payment timing, and account-related questions in a courteous manner.

- Assist with scheduled payment activities, including check run preparation and related processing tasks.

- Support month-end accounting activities by organizing payable information and helping prepare reporting details as needed.

- Keep accounts payable files structured and complete while ensuring deadlines and accuracy standards are consistently me

Requirements - At least 1 year of experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping, or a similar accounting support position.

- Strong data entry skills with a consistent focus on accuracy and detail.

- Ability to manage responsibilities independently and adjust priorities with minimal supervision.

- Comfort learning new systems, tools, and internal workflows quickly.

- Solid organizational skills and the ability to solve routine issues efficiently.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with particular strength in Excel.

- Dependable work habits, self-motivation, and a practical approach to handling day-to-day tasks.
