Accounting Specialist

Description

We are looking for an Accounting Specialist to support key financial operations for a Contract position based in Spokane, Washington. This role is ideal for someone who can manage day-to-day accounting activities while maintaining accuracy across payables, receivables, billing, and payroll and benefits administration support. The selected candidate will contribute to smooth financial workflows, help resolve discrepancies efficiently, and support compensation and benefits-related accounting tasks as needed.

Responsibilities:

- Process vendor invoices, verify supporting documentation, and ensure timely payment in alignment with company procedures.

- Manage customer invoicing activities, track incoming payments, and follow up on outstanding balances to maintain healthy accounts receivable.

- Perform regular account reconciliations, investigate variances, and correct discrepancies to keep financial records accurate.

- Support billing operations by preparing charges, reviewing records for completeness, and resolving invoice-related issues.

- Assist with compensation and benefits accounting by maintaining related records and helping ensure proper financial reporting.

- Communicate with internal teams and external contacts to address payment questions, billing concerns, and account issues promptly.

- Maintain organized accounting documentation and update financial data in company systems with a high level of accuracy.

Requirements

- At least 3 years of experience in an accounting support or accounting specialist role.

- Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and account reconciliation activities.

- Working knowledge of standard accounting practices and financial recordkeeping.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies efficiently.

- Proficiency in using Excel and Microsoft Dynamics tools for tracking and reporting.

- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
