Job Summary

The primary function of the Pac Lease Service Technician is to perform routine maintenance services and repairs on lease and rental vehicles at various customer locations.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform all preventive maintenance and servicing of fleet vehicles as directed by the Pac Lease Service Manager/supervisor. Perform all scheduled maintenance on a timely basis.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and other service problems, determine necessary repairs, and report recommended repairs and servicing to the Pac Lease Service Manager/supervisor.
  • Perform additional maintenance and/or repairs as directed by the Service Manager/supervisor.
  • Operate the Mobile Maintenance Vehicle, performing and/or assisting with emergency service and scheduled maintenance of fleet vehicles. Maintain a stock of supplies on the truck by communicating with the supervisor and vendors about what is needed and when. Keep company trucks and tools clean, safe, and operational.
  • Operate fleet vehicles as directed on a daily basis, including test driving, delivering, fueling, and retrieving from customer locations.
  • Generate maintenance and service records for fleet vehicles serviced, including inspection and maintenance reports, and forward them to the Pac Lease Service Manager/supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Complete all training, safety, and certification programs required to ensure superior quality service, including CDL certification.
  • Comply with the departmental safety program, minimizing on‑job injuries and maintaining a superior safety record.
  • Communicate with Department Manager, Pac Central, customers, and other department managers on a daily, weekly, monthly, and as‑needed basis regarding repair estimates, maintenance and service appointments, and complaints. Ensure timely, competent, and courteous relations with Pac Lease customers and promote the sales of leasing and rentals.
  • Assist the Pac Lease Manager, Pac Lease Service Manager/supervisor, and other employees in the performance of their duties.
  • Perform occasional maintenance and repair outside the mobile service truck at customers’ locations. Ensure the work area is clean, with no spills or garbage left behind.
  • Qualifications
    • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Certificate of completion from a trade technical school in diesel mechanics or minimum two years’ experience as a heavy‑duty truck repair technician.
    • Working knowledge of all heavy truck repair methods.
    • Excellent communication skills, including writing.
    • Professional personal appearance.
    • Must have own tool set sufficient to perform job requirements.
    Working Conditions

    This position is physically demanding. The employee will lift parts weighing up to 70 pounds and will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, and feel. Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials is expected. The employee must climb in and out of customers' vehicles to record information and perform road drives, perform some desk work (computer monitor, telephone, ten‑key calculator, paperwork), and work outside in all weather conditions when required.
