Whitworth University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Cellular Biology, beginning fall 2026. We seek a scholar with expertise in cellular biology who can also teach general biology, introductory genetics, and upper-division cell physiology. Preference will be given to candidates able to teach immunology or neurobiology.
The Whitworth Biology Department emphasizes broad knowledge of the natural world, faculty‑student collaborative research, and thoughtful exploration of how biology shapes our understanding of life and human nature. Students gain both the technical skills needed for graduate study and professional success, and the critical perspective of a liberal arts education.
Responsibilities- Teach 21 credits annually across fall, Jan, and spring terms.
- Courses include introductory biology, genetics, and advanced cell physiology, with opportunities in immunology or neurobiology.
- Advise students, maintain an active research agenda, and contribute to departmental and university service.
- Ph.D. in cellular biology, immunology, neurobiology, or related field.
- Personal commitment to the Christian faith and Whitworth’s mission as a Christian liberal arts university.
- Preferred: college teaching experience, ability to teach upper‑division genetics, immunology, or neurobiology, and/or statistical applications in biology (R).
Assistant Professor, 9‑month contract. Hiring range: $59,572–$63,718, commensurate with experience (annual step increases for credited service).
